Who are you?

I’m Shane Labs. I’m a web developer who likes making side project websites and seeing if they can turn a profit.

I started my first side project in 1998, when I was just 15 years old. From that project I made $431 over the course of a year (like $0.03/hr?). I stopped for a while to focus on my full time career, but now I’m 30 and back in the side project game with a whole new set of websites.

Why should I read your site?

You shouldn’t. I made it for myself. I realized that I’m more accountable for my actions if they’re in public. I also learn things better if I talk about them, as opposed to just reading a new idea, so that’s cool too.

I’m hoping that there are others out there just like me that are struggling with the same problems of having solid projects, but little visitors (and thus little revenue). Are you out there?? I’d love to hear from you.

Do you really make money from your side projects?

Yup. It’s not much, but as of now I’m bringing in about $300 per month (Nov 2013). It more than pays for the hosting, and it’s fun. I’m going to try to increase this every month, with my goal of $1,000/month by the end of next year.
