March 2014 Profit Report: -$244

March is over, and it’s the first time I’m reporting a monthly loss ($-244). But don’t think that means it was a bad month – in fact it was one of the most productive I’ve ever had!

This month was exciting for me because I launched the redesign of the AmpedSense site (check out the before and after). What do you all think?? I love it. And I’ve got just 1 more week of tweaking the actual product before I go into sales mode and attempt to sell the hell out of it.

It was also super exciting because I got my first sale at a higher price point ($79) – and I got it while I was on vacation! Gives me hope that this is going to be a good product and people will see its true value!

From a financial standpoint, this month looks bad. But that’s only because I shelled out $675 for the redesign of the AmpedSense website. If you discount that number, my profit becomes +$431 instead of -$244. But the redesign is an investment in the product, and I’m confident it will pay for itself over the next couple months.

I didn’t do much work on any of my other side projects, including this site. Here are the summary numbers:

(You should be aware I’m excluding the expense of web hosting in that chart. At $5 per month, I feel like my web host cost is negligible and hard to split between that many sites.)

Compared to last month, traffic went up by about 2,000 visitors, and profit down by about $500. But again, that doesn’t worry me because the main redesign expense is a one-time cost, and should give me a return on my investment.

Oh yeah – and I had a kick ass day on one of my AdSense sites – check out this spike! I have no idea what accounted for this – perhaps a new advertiser set their budgets wrong for the day?

$60 in one day, from AdSense!

Stay tuned as I attempt to market AmpedSense. Gonna start out contacting bloggers individually, including a few high profile people that could write a review of it. Also gonna post some case studies showing its success, and maybe even release that report to encourage people to opt-in to an autoresponder email list. Have any other suggestions?

The new site looks nice. Just a heads up: on the pricing page, the words “Standard” and “Ultimate” aren’t adjusting to the responsive design.

Thanks! And good catch – I’ll look into that!
